Naps Tanzania Limited (“Naps”, “we”, “our”, “us”) operates the Naps mobile application and web platform — a Learning Management System (LMS) designed for university students in Tanzania to access class notes, articles, books, and other academic materials.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights available to you. By registering for or using the Naps service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data beyond what is required for identity verification as mandated by applicable Tanzanian law.
3. How we use your information
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- Service delivery — to create and manage your Naps account, provide access to learning materials, and operate the platform.
- Identity verification (KYC) — to verify your student status and comply with our regulatory obligations.
- Security & fraud prevention — to detect abuse, unauthorised access, and fraudulent activity.
- Customer support — to respond to enquiries, complaints, and disputes.
- Communications — to send service notices, account updates, and (where you have opted in) promotional content via SMS, email, push notification, or social media.
- Product improvement — for quality control, training, research, and platform analytics.
- Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws, court orders, or requests from competent authorities.
4. Sharing your information
We may share your personal data with the following parties:
- Service providers and partners — companies that support our operations (e.g. cloud hosting, analytics, payment processing) under confidentiality obligations.
- Affiliates and subsidiaries — other entities within the Naps Tanzania group for purposes related to the service.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties for independent marketing purposes.
5. Retention of data
We retain your personal data for as long as your Naps account is active or as needed to provide services to you. When your account is closed or becomes dormant, we may retain your data for a period required by applicable Tanzanian law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention and dispute resolution, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
6. Your rights
Subject to applicable Tanzanian law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
- Deletion — request erasure of your data where it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
- Restriction — request that we limit the processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Objection — object to processing for direct marketing at any time.
- Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us or closing your account. Withdrawal does not affect prior processing.

7. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These include OTP-based authentication, encrypted data transmission, and access controls limited to authorised personnel. However, no method of electronic transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Naps service is intended for university students aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has registered without parental consent, please contact us so we can remove the relevant account and data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and notify you through the app or by email where required. Your continued use of the Naps service after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
